Mkomazi National Park
Mkomazi National Park is located in the in the northern part of Tanzania within Kilimanjaro and Tanga Regions. On the northern side, the park borders Tsavo West National Park in Kenya, and lies about 120 kilometers east of Moshi town.
The park is a part of Mkomazi-Tsavo Ecosystem, which represents the second largest trans-boundary ecosystem in East Africa, right after the famous Serengeti- Mara Ecosytem.
Mkomazi spreads along the Umba river, and it is a prime habitat of rare colobus monkeys, which reside within its riverine forests.
The park has a semi-arid climate with bimodal rainfall distribution pattern. Mkomazi is rich in mammal specie, including increasingly scares wild dogs, kongoni, giraffes, dik-diks and in the drier areas gerenuk, lesser kudu and beisa oryx. Larger cats are rare sight, but you will have opportunity to encounter serval cat, caracal or wild cat. Also, there are over 450 species of birds recorded in the Park.
Mkomazi National Park is unique, becauseis among few protected areas in Tanzania with large population of gerenuk gazelle and massive concentration of Beisa Oryx.
This park is one of the richest savannahs in Africa and possibly in the world in terms of the number of rare and endemic species of fauna and flora, supported by the presence of wild dogs and black rhinoceros.

The Park can be accessed by road or air.
By road:
Mkomazi is easily accessible via surfaced highway connecting Arusha to Dar es Salaam.
By Air:
Charter flights are available to the Kisima airstrip.
